Marcelli's Summer Program

Marcelli School of Antipolo is excited to offer its annual Summer School Program for incoming Kindergarten to Grade Six pupils. Our Summer classes are aimed to help the children spend their vacation wisely. Instead of being glued in front of the TV, Computer, or any gadget, why not send them to school for them to have an enjoyable, memorable and productive vacation. These are also offered to non-Marcelli School pupils so you may invite your child's friends to enroll in our summer classes, too.

Enrichment class in Math, Science, English, Filipino

Reading Camp with Teacher Joanna

The five-week program is built on early literacy approach. During each week of camp, campers learn about an interesting theme and at the same time, their reading skills are developed. Arts and crafts, music, and Science are integrated in this program.

Art Class with Sir Ezra Reverente

Our Art teacher, Sir Ezra, is back this summer to conduct basic drawing and painting lessons to children inclined to the arts.

Music Class (Voice, Guitar, Piano, Drums, Violin)

Our music teacher, Teacher Michelle Esparcia, a Bachelor of Music (Major in Voice and Minor in Piano) graduate from St. Scholastica’s College of Manila, will train the kids to develop their music talent and stage presence.

Parkour Class with Ninja Academy

Parkour focuses on developing the fundamental attributes required for movement which include balance, strength, endurance, precision and spatial awareness. These skills will enable an individual to be completely functional and effective in going through obstacles in the environment. The sport is fairly new in the country so this is the opportune time to be one of the first practitioners of parkour. The kids will be coached by members of the Philippine Parkour/Freerunning Association.

Yoga Class with Teacher Dianne Pascual

Teacher Dianne Pascual, a certified yoga instructor, will join us this summer to conduct Ashtanga Yoga classes for two groups, the five to eight year old group, and the nine year old and above group. Yoga practice has been proven to give many benefits; among them are increased core strength, concentration, metabolism, flexibility. Yoga also promotes good posture, immunity, and weight management.

Traditional vs Progressive Education

John Dewey (1938) opens the first chapter with a statement about the opposition that exists in educational theory: the contrast between traditional and progressive education. He depicts traditional education as a system that consists of bodies of information, skills, developed standards, and rules of conduct that worked historically, and that encourages a student attitude of docility, receptivity, and obedience. The task of educators in traditional education is to communicate knowledge and skills, and to enforce rules of conduct onto the new generation.

He depicts progressive education as a system that criticizes traditional education in that it imposes adult standards, subject matter, and methods upon a young generation. It provides minimal active participation by students in the development of subject matter. Progressive education offers learners the following: growth and expression of individuality; free activity; learning through experience; the acquisition of skills as a means of attaining ends which are vital and appealing to students; and, becoming acquainted with a changing world. Dewey (1938) views progressive education as an intimate and necessary relation between the processes of actual experience and education.

However, Dewey (1938) believes neither progressive nor traditional education is the solution to the opposition that exists in educational theory. He proposes that the problems they present require a resolution based on a new philosophy of experience. As long as the assumption exists that it suffices to reject the ideas of traditional education and to go to the opposite extreme to progressive education, the problem at hand (the lack of a new philosophy of experience), will not even be recognized, let alone being resolved.

Marcelli School: Mission and Vision

Marcelli School of Antipolo, being a pioneering progressive school in Antipolo City, adopts an integrated approach to learning that recognizes Multiple Intelligences.

According to Howard Gardner, human beings have nine different kinds of intelligence that reflect different ways of interacting with the world. Each individual has a unique combination of the intelligences. Although we each have all nine intelligences, no two individuals have them in the same exact manner.

Academic disciplines through progressive education introduce concepts and processes within meaningful contexts to enable the child to realize connections between ideas. Class projects and performances are designed to draw on multiple intelligences while encouraging both self-reliance and collaboration.

Marcelli School: Progressive School in Antipolo

MARCELLI SCHOOL of Antipolo is the pioneering school of progressive education in Antipolo City.

The school currently enrolls ages 2 to 12, equivalent to toddler through sixth grade. One building houses the preschoolers, aged 2-6 while another building is for the grade schoolers, ages 7-12.  However, our approach to learning is developmental, and so our classrooms can be multi-age.

Marcelli School gives children learning experiences in a safe and green environment.  The tree-filled 3000 sqm campus includes a playground, a bahay kubo, a nursery and a seedling garden – an ambience that promotes learning. Each classroom  has a toilet and a reading corner. Large wide-span windows on two walls let in air and natural light. Chairs can be moved about the room to create learning space or collaboration for a particular topic.
